Autocomplete is an automatic prediction generated by Google’s algorithm, it’s predicated by the orthographic initiations of human involvement; those predictions become perceptible between the combinations of user implementation of phonemic, graphemic, morphemic and digraphic units into the search query. The algorithm partition its interpretation by excluding and detecting searches based on adjacent graphemes, morphemes, digraphs, or whatever esoteric methodology they integrate into their algorithm. I do know this, the calculative predictions are insidious, and here’s why—–in order to highlight their flawed algorithmic functions an analysis of linguistic units are incumbent. If you search query graphemes the algorithm yield results based on historical data of user activity, giving the user predictable options to index information quickly and effectively. Equal methods are implemented in the spelling corrections stemming from phonemic, graphemic, morphemic and digraphic units, where the spelling correction modifies or rectifies the typos and keyboard mishaps into common dictionary terms and phrases. Seems like a feasible calculative function and a user asset to the search query experience; however, there’s a flaw in these impressions in terms of the algorithms phrasal predictions based on adjacent lexemes, and its inability to exclude and detect valid phonemes, morphemes, graphemes and digraphs.
Autocompletion and spelling correction predictions share a commonality and disparity; autocompletion reflect search activities or lexical and syntactical predictions stemming from phonemic, graphemic, morphemic and digraphic units , while spelling corrections reflect the same lexical and syntactical attributes in the search query. The disparity derives from the autocompletion ascribing historical data based on user activities, and the spelling correction ascribing historical typo errors and keyboard mishaps based on search query activities; basically it’s a situational irony when the spelling correction yields the historical typo error in search activity to rectify an incorrect word or phrase. The algorithm footprints human error and reimplements the information as a correction, a problem induced when users type in identical graphemes, morphemic or digraphic units that initiated the spelling error in the search query.
Digraphic units are paradoxical in that they consist of two graphemes that enables autocompletion to disambiguate the rest of a word, phrase or sentence..Meaning, the algorithm functions on graphemic and morphemic units, but this equivocates meaning more because graphemes, digraphs and morphemes inadvertently overlap with shortened words and phrases such as acronyms, abbreviations, Initialisms, and many other derivational and inflectional morphemic units.
